Hugon is the hereditary lord of Drakeholt controlling both the town and the small rural area around it. He took over the lordship on the death of his father some years ago, and had been a diligent ruler regularly visiting villages and spending time at the town market in Drakeholt. Lately he has been reclusive, rarely seen and ruling this reeves and guards, not despotically to be sure, but rather perhaps carelessly and is rarely seen by most people.

Hugon is in his mid-thirties and was obviously until recently a robust and healthy man. His robes are well made, nicely embroidered and fur-lined but now dirty and crumpled. He obviously hasn't changed them for some time, or washed for that matter. His cheeks are unshaven and his eyes are sunken and with dark rings. When spoken to he seems like a combination of distracted and uncaring about anything around him. Around his neck is a large red jewel on a great chain which he toys with incessantly while talking.

Hugon come across as distracted, often seeming to talk to himself and toying with the large red jewel which rests on a chain around his neck. He will avoid looking people in the eye and will give curt instructions in barked orders. Any mention of dragons will change his behaviour. He will snap to attention, fix the person with a gimlet stare, and question them intensely before lapsing back into disinterestedness. See the madness of Hugon for the background to his behaviour.
