Chef de Bataillon Assane Diop is the son of the impoverished former Comte de Peillon. They survived the revolution through siding with Republic and Assane quickly made his way up through the ranks of the military, his affable nature making it easy for him to fit in despite his devastatingly poor looks.

Diop leads part of his battalion into action in a foraging expedition at Santa Olalla. He succeeds in bringing the supplies in from the farm, but his voltigeurs and one company of chasseurs are mauled. A 50% victory gaining 3 honour points.
